Welcome to The Space’s Discourse forum, the digital hub for our Bitcoin education non-profit! Join our member community to explore resources, share ideas, and connect. Whether you’re new to Bitcoin or a seasoned advocate, this is your place to engage and learn.

About The Space

The Space is dedicated to advancing Bitcoin through education, open-source tools, and community collaboration. Our forum is organized into categories tailored to different interests and access levels:

  • General Discussion: Open to all! Discuss Bitcoin trends, ask questions, and share insights. Anyone can view, post, and reply.
  • FOSS Resources: Access our open-source Bitcoin tools (mining pools, lightning nodes, proof-of-reserves dashboard). Everyone can view and reply; PayingMembers create topics.
  • Governance & Operations: Learn how The Space is run and governed. Publicly open for all to post, inquire, or suggest improvements.
  • Job Board: Exclusive to PayingMembers. Post and explore Bitcoin-related career opportunities. Only members can view, post, or comment.
  • Education: A public repository of The Space’s Bitcoin educational materials. All are welcome to view, post, and contribute feedback.
  • Events: Plan and discuss Bitcoin events. Open to everyone to share ideas, get event details, and provide feedback.
  • Staff: Private for staff and moderators to coordinate The Space’s mission. Only they can view, post, or comment.
  • Member Discussion: A members-only space for PayingMembers to collaborate and discuss exclusive topics. Only members can view, post, or reply.

Getting Started with Discourse

Here’s how to make the most of the forum:

  • Search: Use the top-right magnifying glass to find topics (e.g., “events” or “education”). Filter by “latest” or “top.”
  • Comment/Reply: Join a thread by clicking Reply on a post or topic. Keep it friendly and relevant!
  • Create Posts: Click New Topic in public categories (General, Governance, Education, Events) or FOSS Resources/Job Board/Member Discussion (members). Add a title, write, and click Create Topic.
  • Use Tags: Organize and find content with tags. When creating a topic, add tags like “bitcoin-mining,” “lightning,” or “event-planning” in the tag field (below the title). Search tags via the magnifying glass or click a tag on a post to see related topics. Keep tags specific and relevant (e.g., avoid generic terms like “discussion”).
  • Format: Style posts with markdown:
    • Italics: text
    • Bold: text
    • Lists: - Item
  • Notifications: Set alerts for replies via profile > gear icon.

How to Contribute

Your voice shapes our community! Here’s how to dive in:

  • Share: Post in General, Governance, Education, or Events (open to all) or FOSS Resources/Member Discussion (members). Tag posts to help others find them (e.g., “education” for tutorials).
  • Jobs: Members, use Job Board to post or find opportunities; tag with “job-offer” or “freelance.”
  • Join Members: Dues-paying members, use the invite link (emailed) to join PayingMembers for exclusive access. Contact admins if needed.
  • Engage: Reply to others and use tags to categorize your contributions.
